The cold ride back to the ferry

We did a little sight seeing on our way back to the ferry.  The buildings at Ground Zero are taking shape.

Manhattan Velo - NY, NY

Had a great visit with Carlos.  He owns three stores in city.  Two are just just few blocks apart.  Only in NY could you get away this.

Waterfront Bicycle - NY, NY

Great store on the westside conveniently located on the 32 mile Manhattan Waterfront Greenway bike path.

Lunch - NY, NY

The ride to lunch..

Had some great local fare for lunch.....

Zen Bikes - NY, NY

Great new store in Midtown.  N+marco and Anders were very optimistic about the e-bike category.

City Bicycles - NY, NY

Great store in Midtown.  The owner, Jonathan was very generous by offering me a helmet to use for the day.  Just couldn’t get the helmet over my earmuffs so I went without.

Trip Across the Hudson River

Bill & I decided the best way to visit the dealers in Manhattan was to do it on an e-bike. We parked the truck at the Port Imperial ferry station and took our e-bikes on the ferry into midtown Manhattan.  The weather was miserable, cold and rain but we were able to see 5 stores and not pay a penny in parking.

I took a screen shot of my Iphone to document the 39 degree temps we rode in

Andy's Cycle Center - Linden, NJ

Always a pleasure to visit with Drew at Andy's.  Drew was fresh back from a week in the sun in Cancun.  He was well tanned and refreshed for the upcoming season.

Brookdale Cycle - Bloomfield, NJ

A plast from the past.  Posters on the wall from 1996 and pegboard still rules the day here.  Haven’t seen the "Ride A Schwinn for Good Health" logo in  while.  Very nostalgic!

Diamond Cycle - Montclair, NJ

Since 1912 Diamond Cycles has been serving the Montclair NJ neighborhood.  Craig Cornell runs a great operation in this very upscale New Jersey community in the shadows of Manhattan. Craig shared his memories of 9/11 as he could see the smoke from the towers as the story unfolded.  Very chilling.

Barnegat Light House - Barnegat Light, NJ

The Barnegat light was was constructed in the 1850's at cost of $40,000.  It lit the way for almost 100 years until it was deactivated in 1944.  Unfortunately it was closed while we were there so we did not have the opportunity to climb the 217 stairs to get the penthouse view.
