Bethlehem Steel Company - Bethlehem, PA

Bethlehem Steel Company at one point was the second largest steel company in America second only to US steel in Pittsburgh on the opposite side of the state of Pennsylvania.  The company started in 1857 and quickly became one of the shining stars in American manufacturing. From railroad rails to ship building the company was a leader in American workmanship.  In 2001 Bethlehem Steel filed for bankruptcy and was eventually liquidated.
On the partial site today is casino constructed by Sands Corporation that opened in 2009.  The new monster hotel adjacent to the casino was scheduled to open this summer but has been put on hold due to the poor economy.  Sands used a portion of the rail system from the original factory as dramatic feature at the entrance.
Progress?  I guess……
I took these shots before I left town.
